This 17" long necklace is made solely of natural color vintage pearls from Lake Biwa, Japan. The pearls range in size from 8 to 11mm. Each pearl has been hand knotted on white thread. It is VERY difficult to capture the silky luster that these pearls have to this day. The gentle shapes are so well matched. The clasp is original to the piece and is made of 12K rose gold and holds 7 smaller white vintage pearls from Japan's Lake Biwa ID#KDN2608
These pearls were part of a long held family collection. Always a fan of the unusual, Rudolf Voll (Pacific Pearls) and family started collecting cultured Japanese freshwater pearls some 50 years ago. This particular necklace contains the largest and most impressively matched Japan Biwa pearls I have ever seen.. we suspect that this was owned by Frida Voll (Rudolf's wife/Fuji's mother).
