This very special necklace is made with three strands of natural color vintage pearls from Lake Biwa, Japan. Harvested approximately 50 years ago.. these pearls still have amazing luster! The pearls range in size from 5.5-6mm. The shortest strand on the necklace is 22" and the longest is 24.5". We chose to use the original clasp after fully renotting this necklace. The clasp is stamped 14K and holds 14 small rubies in an ornate floral design.
These pearls were part of a long held family collection. Always a fan of the unusual, Rudolf Voll (Pacific Pearls) and family started collecting cultured Japanese freshwater pearls some 50 years ago. For more information on fresh water pearls from Lake Biwa, please read Fuji's article
