Akoya Pearl Jewelry

Grown mostly in Japan and Vietnam, Akoya pearls are the first cultured salt water pearls and after nearly a century still hold the image of most people's idea of what a pearl should look like. In this section you will also find keshi pearls from the Akoya oysters.

We work directly with the farmers of Japan Kasumi pearls, and have for decades. Japan Kasumi pearls are known for their characteristic rippled surfaces, but they can also be found with smooth skin. They are prized for their metallic luster and rainbow overtones, and they can also be soft glowing in light champagne tones. They are a truly unique and prized part of the pearl world, and we are honored to bring them to you.

Keshi is a Japanese word that means "poppyseed". In salt water culturing, keshi pearls are unplanned pearls, often the baroque shaped pearl result of a rejected nucleus. In fresh water cultivation they are generally the result of a second harvest from a pearl producing mollusk.

 If you would like us to shorten, lengthen or change the clasp on one of our necklaces, please just let us know at the time of purchase. All normal stringing is free of charge, sometimes there is a fee to lengthen a necklace, or for an upgraded clasp.

Has your style changed?

Has working remotely found you dressing more casually? 

Did you buy a beautiful piece for a special event, but wear it only a few

times? 

Together, we can give new love to your Kojima pearls and you can treat

yourself to something new! 

Three easy steps to spread some pearl love:

Pre-Loved Pearls will feature pieces from Kojima Company that originally

sold for a minimum of $1, 000. Send us photos and the original order

number or correspondence from the purchase, if available. We’ll have a

look and answer any questions.

If they qualify, you then ship the pearls to us. We will inspect them, suggest

a selling price, and list them on our Pre-Loved Pearls page. 

When the lovely new owner accepts the piece, you may choose to receive

either 40% of the resale price in direct payment, or 60% in credit towards

your next purchase at Kojima Pearl . If after six months the pearls are

unsold, we will return them via secure shipment.
