This 22" long necklace is made completely of wild found, natural ocean pearls (primarily from the Mexican Pacific and Sea of Cotez). The pearl varieties include:
Pteria Sterna
Pinctada Mazatlanica
Pinna Rugosa
Strombus Gigas
Spondylus Morado
Modiolus Philippinarum
The pearls range in size from 3mm at the ends to a center pearl of 13.2X16.8mm. The clasp is a solid 14k yellow gold heavy lobster style.
I made this necklace in approximately 2006 and it has been in private collection ever since. I was SO happy to see this piece again, it had been so long, it felt like lifetimes ago. I can't even comprehend pulling a collection like this together again. The mix of colors and species, the raw natural power it holds. All the joy that was felt with the discovery of each one of these pearls is visceral when you see this piece.
